Adrian Batty has over 30 years experience of the pest control industry having set up and managed Hull City Council's specialist pest control unit since 1980. The section also included the dog warden and drainage clearance/investigation service. Adrian left the Council in 1995 to set up AB Pest Management which, working in partnership with you, the customer, can provide the highest level of protection for you, your family, your staff, your premises and your reputaton.

Adrian Batty is a qualified Environmental Health Officer and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health. Owners of all types of businesses and especially food businesses can benefit from this experience by taking out a pest prevention contract which includes free advice on food hygiene and food safety in a non-regulatory manner. This may help food businesses improve their 'Scores on the Doors'  the National Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.

Integrated Pest Management

AB Pest Management promotes Integrated Pest Management, a control strategy that uses all available information to provide an efficient, effective long term solution to pest problems. It includes accurate identification of the pest, knowledge of the pest's behaviour, a full survey and inspection, housekeeping and hygiene, habitat/environment management, building and site maintenance, stock control, hygiene schedules, customer training, accurate record keeping, non-chemical control and when necessary the application of the least hazardous pesticides. And finally, assessment of post treatment actions.

Pest Control Training

AB Pest Management works in partnership with Killgerm Chemicals the UK's leading provider of training for pest control technicians. Training courses include the Royal Society for Public Health Level 2 Certificate in Pest Management.

Environmental Policy

AB Pest Management specialises in the provision of pest control services to the food and allied industries, commercial and domestic properties. Adrian Batty a qualified Environmental Health Officer is trained and competent, working in accordance with relevant legislation and industry codes of practise, to deliver these services. AB Pest Management recognises that the delivery of these services may impact on the environment and accordingly takes all reasonable steps to minimise the harmful effects of these activities and to prevent the risk of pollution. The control of rodents in rural situatuations will, where necessary, be assessed using Killgerm Chemical's 'Guide to Environmental  Assessment' to protect non-target species. 

Health and Safety

AB Pest Management acknowledges and accepts it's legal responsibilities for securing the health, safety and welfare of its employees, customers and other who may be affected by its activities. AB Pest Management will provide and maintain safe plant and equipment, provide safe systems of work, provide for the safe storage, handling, use and transport of all materials, provide a safe working environment and provide sufficient information when required. Appropriate personal protective equipment will be worn and a First Aid and Eye Wash kit will be carried in the vehicle. The use of hazardous material will be assessed under COSHH legislation and all relevant work activities will be RISK assessed. AB Pest Management is insured with Bradshaw and Bennett Ltd to a maximum of £5 million.

AB Pest Management is a founder member of the UK Pest Controllers Organisation ( UKPCO ) where all  Pest Technicians must hold the minimum qualification of RSPH/BPCA Level 2 Award/Certificate in Pest Management, and agree to keep their skills up to date by undergoing Continuing Professional Development ( CPD )  and be registered with BASIS Prompt as well as being fully insured. The UKPCO  is a not for profit consortium of small independent pest control businesses who wish to promote quality pest control/management throughout the pest management industry, by supporting relevant qualifications, CPD and providing assistance where required for the Trade Associations ( BPCA and NPTA ), the NPAP and by being an active member of the Pest Alliance.
